TORSO is an international film experiment that explores the online gay community. One torso at time.
Australian Filmmaker Tim Marshall set out to meet men online and discover the world of stories that exists behind their dating profiles, offline. What emerged is a diverse collection of brave and honest interviews. By filming only each subject’s naked torso, Tim aims to comment on the superficiality inherent in the online gay community. This approach has been used in an effort to break down body image stereotypes, whilst celebrating the varied physicality of the men using these apps.
This project started in Sydney, Australia in 2013 and has continued throughout 2014 in Reykjavik, Iceland and Los Angeles, USA.
