Mischa and Sülo - Part 7 - Eng Sub

MARIENHOF started its life in 1992, but it wasn't until January 2, 1995 that its format was changed to 'Daily Soap'. Notice the date? It's when VERBOTENE LIEBE premiered. The success of the daily format on other channels prompted DasErste to completely overhaul the show, give it a somewhat more catchy theme song and introduce younger characters. That said, MARIENHOF's storylines have been always more 'issue' driven than on other soaps and it is perceived AND intended as the more 'real people' counterpart to VL's 'bold and beautiful'.
Enter Mischa (Matthias Beier, a VL alumni where he played 'Jonas' between 2o00 and 2001. You should be able to spot him in the Tom & Olli clips) and Suelo (Giovanni Arvaneh- there seems to an unspoken rule on German TV that sexually confused Turks can only be played by someone who is himself not Turkish): Suelo, a Turkish owner of a mom & pop fruits and vegetable store, starts having an affair with Mischa, a highschool teacher. Two things make this storyline stand out from the others covered here regularly: This is not your average 'Young Gay boy falls in love with Young Straight Boy, straight boy realizes he is gay or bi and they live happily ever after (or not, huh, DeRo?). And this isn't even really a love story- it's a story of mutual attraction and not being able to let go of each other DESPITE each other.
Their storyline aired for 8 months during 2007, spanning 105 episodes. Mischa eventually left Cologne, but Suelo is still a character on the show. He hasn't had a new love interest, male or female, since.
The storyline is currently in the process of being subtitled - see the first clips above and read their complete story over on AfterElton.
